From My Position

SUBJECT: Najaf and al-Sadr

My web guru, Big Billy Parker of Houston, insists I do a quarterly editorial. I hate doing these things for several reasons:

  • (1) I tend to rant and rave at times (stop, stop, it’s true). Then again, from your feedback it sounds as though that’s why some of you tune in.

  • (2) Like everyone else, I get sick of hearing the talking head “experts” on the cable news channels. I preface this editorial with the following: I’m just as full of shit as they are; the only difference is that I admit it.

  • (3) Unlike most authors, I’m a serving member of the United States military. It’s frowned on to publicly comment on politics and policy, so I’m going somewhat out on a limb. Keep in mind that my comments are just that – Michael Farmer’s – not necessarily the views of the United States Army ; )
  • First, let’s get this out of the way. Moqtada al-Sadr is a thug and an asshole. No other way to describe the man. Calling him a cleric/holy man/imam is an insult to the religion of Islam. Sadr, like so many other radicals (he’s just the worst nut-case at the moment), is twisting the religious beliefs of his fellow Muslims into something the Koran is blatantly against – hate and killing. This jackass is walking across the bodies of his fellow Iraqis not for love of Allah, but for his own personal gain. Don’t take my word for it…research it yourself. Check this dude out. The only clerics in the region siding with him are those who are too frightened to do otherwise.

And once again we’re letting the jerk-off get off with a “let’s stop the fighting while we negotiate” bit; ironic that every time he takes this approach those devil dog U.S. Marines are breathing down his throat. So here we are, with our American, Iraqi, and allied troops getting shot at from mosques that we can’t fire on for fear that we’ll offend someone. Does this sound insane to anyone but me? I’d like to see someone stick the business end of an M1A2 cannon through the mosque Sadr’s holed up in and see if he’d be willing to do some real negotiating. Methinks he would.

Before the faint of heart cry out against me…

I confess I’ve only read portions of the Islam holy book, but I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that somewhere in that great work it spells out that assholes shouldn’t use holy sites to hole up in because they’re too cowardly to come out and fight. That they shouldn’t use religion as a shield for personal gain.

And that’s all Sadr’s about, folks. He’s a piece of scum who needs to be cleaned out along with the rest of the shit. Then we can move on to the next jackass. Sooner or later, Iraq would smell just fine. But that’s only my opinion.

    Scouts out!

    Mike

A novel of armored warfare in the 21st Century

Another tour de armored force by bestselling author Michael Farmer. The Franks Combat System, or “Tommy Gun”, has been designed by the U.S. Army to be twice as light as the Abrams tank it will soon replace, and at the same time more lethal and survivable. But on the eve of the Tommy fielding, the prototypes have been stolen and spirited from the United States, along with the project’s military lead: Major Patrick Dillon. And now President Jonathan Drake has laid down the law…he wants his tanks, and Patrick Dillon, back. And Drake doesn’t care how his military and intelligence agencies accomplish the task.

From Iraq’s Sunni Triangle, to the American Southwest, and into the pine-covered forests of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, WAR DOGS showcases what Farmer knows best - America’s fighting men and women.
