TheTanker.Com Welcomes John Bertetto

Agent Double-Oh Negative

[Michael Farmer / TheTanker.Com / John Bertetto] Well, sir, there is no doubt about it anymore. Howard Dean has lost his mind.

Can you believe this guy? On the television, in the print media, claiming that we are no safer today that the day the towers were destroyed. What planet is he living on? Let's run down the list of events that have occurred since 11SEP01...

A) We invaded Afghanistan and toppled the Taliban.

By our continued presence and action there, the country is no longer able to successfully propagate or maintain terrorist training camps.

B) Osama bin Laden has been run to ground.

Once the poster-asshole for international anti-American terrorism, I'd be surprised if this jag-off can recruit a clean glass of water. Assuming he's still alive and not less kibble and mostly bits at the bottom of some cave. Hard to recruit for the terror student body when you've dropped off the map. Martyr? Hardly. More like an example.

C) We invaded Iraq and toppled Saddam Hussein's regime.

No longer can the "government" of this country murder and rape its people. No longer can it serve as a luminary for terrorist cells. No longer can it financially and militarily offer aid to terrorist camps. While Iraq remains a dangerous place, the efforts of coalition forces will soon secure it.

D) We've captured Saddam Hussein.

I think I've covered this sufficiently, don't you?

E) Qadhafi has shit his pants.

That is why he's literally begging for UN inspectors. It's a cry of "Please don't come after me next!"

F) The Department of Homeland Security has been established.

Combining the efforts of existing agencies, like the FBI, CIA, NSA, INS, Customs, Secret Service, and Coast Guard, the agency can now regulate the flow and distribution of vital information amongst those who need it. The hand that carries the sword sees more clearly than ever before.

G) The Transportation Security Administration has been created.

This agency insures the safety of commuter and commercial traffic across the Nation. Security checkpoints at airports may be a little longer, but now you don't even have to worry about a terrorist attacking with a pair of fingernail clippers. An extra hour at the airport equals no more planes into buildings? I think that's a fair trade.

And that's just the short list. The Post 11SEP America is a different place than the Pre. The current administration has strengthened America's position and safety in the world. It has said to the rest of the world that no longer will Americans be targets. If you strike an American or an American 'target', your ass is grass. Period. Truth be told, the current administration has had to work twice as hard as it should have, trying to make up for the failings of the previous administration. The safety of America cannot be measured by the size of its citizen’s pocketbooks. I'm all for domestic prosperity, but not when it blinds us to the dangers within and without our borders. No, no, no. We ignored the outrage and terrors focused at our heads like a .45 for eight years. That gross misconduct led directly to the complacency and communications failures that allowed terrorist onto our aircraft. And for what, better stock options? A stronger 401(k)? Well, it's a little hard to utilize your 401(k) when you’re dead. Is a Lincoln Navigator a fair trade for someone's husband, someone's father, someone's daughter? Is it a fair trade for yours?

The saying goes "I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees". I'll alter that a bit. I'd rather live with $2.00 than die with $4.50.

According to Howard Dean, though, the world is no safer now than it was before 11SEP01. How can anybody look at the chasm the Clinton Administration allowed to widen during his tenure, look at the direct results of it, and look at the steps that have been taken since and conclude that progress has not been made? Howard Dean is counting on just that type of idiocy to get you to vote for him.

Howard Dean, among others, has also been openly critical of actions in Iraq. He's called them unnecessary. Unnecessary? Let me make one thing absolutely clear, because I do not want to have to repeat it. What we are doing in Iraq is absolutely vital to the security of the entire planet. It is as absolutely necessary as the war against Nazi Germany. How so many people fail to see that I do not understand. We took action against the Nazis to prevent the spread of Evil and terror. Unfortunately, Evil today has no national army. Instead, it has built an army of terrorists, who follow an ideology rather than a flag. We have chosen now to pursue the Evil, rooting it and its supporters out of the dark crevices in which they hide. Afghanistan and Iraq have been first. I certainly hope they will not be the last. Howard Dean is one who would rather have us bury our heads in the sand.

The hopefuls are lining up, taking their turn at the pulpit. Each one will stand before the American public, seeking his or her chance.

Howard Dean, you've had your chance. You’ve failed.
